Moving in the way of efficiency Hamilton International Airport has adopted an “Autopay” and “Off-Site” monitoring parking operation for all airport parking lots, which have also taken on new names and are now identified as economy rather than long term and premium rather than short term. What this more or less means is that there will not be a cashier in the parking kiosk at the exit gate. There are now three easy-to-use payment methods, Credit Card Express, Pay Station and Pay on Exit.

In my opinion Credit Card Express is the easiest most hassle free method as long as you do not lose your credit card while you are away of course. Upon entering the parking lot, simply insert your credit card into the slot at the entry gate, your credit card will be read and your entry time will be recorded, your credit card will then be given back to you. Now as long as you have not misplaced that same credit card on your travels all you must do is simply insert that same credit card into the opening at the exit gate, the credit card will be read and your parking fee will be calculated based on your length of stay, simple as that! The next two methods involve receiving and keeping a ticket that you will have to keep with you from entry to exit. When using the Pay Station method you will pull up to the entry gate and push the button for a ticket. Before going back to your car you will insert this ticket into one of the payment stations inside the terminal building, you can either pay with credit card or with cash. You will receive a validated ticket that you will insert at the exit gate which will raise the gate arm and allow you to leave. Finally when using the Pay on Exit method instead of paying in the terminal at the payment stations you will instead insert your ticket into any of the exit gates, your parking fee will be calculated and you will be asked to insert a credit card as payment, the exit gate arm will rise and off you go. If for any reason you do require assistance with any parking issue feel free to press the “Help” button located on all payment stations and exit/entry gates and a parking attendant will be more than willing to help you.

Remember there is no cashier at the exit terminal, if paying with cash you must pay inside the terminal at one of the payment stations also remember to place your ticket somewhere where you will not lose it. Visit www.flyhi.ca for more parking information.
