2 December 2010 – Hamilton International Airport (hi) reached a significant milestone yesterday by celebrating our 10th Annual Mohawk College Airport Tour. Students from the Tourism and Travel program at Mohawk College enjoyed a behind-the-scenes and educational look at the operational side of the airport.
The students were able to bring the classroom to life with hands-on learning and interaction with staff from airport administration, WestJet, Aeroguard, and Canada Border Services. We were not only excited to convey professional knowledge to the students, but also the importance of safety and customer service in the travel industry.
Brenda Hutton, Professor at Mohawk College, organizes the annual event for the College. “It was one of the best tours yet – and the highlight of our first semester Airline Operations class!” This year’s tour was a comprehensive experience covering all job types required to run an airport efficiently. Professor Hutton is a believer in a hands-on approach to learning the industry, “the behind the scenes look at WestJet, Aeroguard and Border Services ties together a semester of learning for our students. We look forward to our 11th annual tour next year!”
The Airport is proud to work with our community partners such as Mohawk College and build relationships with the future leaders of the travel industry in the Hamilton area.
A special thanks to everyone involved in making this Tour a great success.
We’ll see you all at hi next year!
