May 29, 2009
Expansion continues at the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport.
Richard Koroscil, President and C.E.O. is pleased to announce that Hamilton Airport Fuel Facilities Corporation (HAFFC) has entered into a long term lease agreement with Hamilton International Airport Ltd. for development of a jet-fuel storage facility at the airport.
HAFFC is a not-for-profit corporation, founded by member airlines WestJet, Cargojet, flyglobespan and Air Canada. The common use fuel storage facility will provide storage for 3.6 million litres of jet fuel, ensuring adequate aviation fuel storage for airline partners operating out of Hamilton International.
“The development of this facility and ensuring adequate fuel supply for the airport is very important to the long term strategic growth of Hamilton International Airport” says Koroscil.
HAFFC will be managed by FSM Management Group. FSM, the leading aviation fuel management company in the Canadian airport sector provides engineering and construction management services, environmental management and facility administration to more than fifty major international airlines. Currently, FSM manages several airport fuel facilities across Canada including Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Halifax, Calgary and Montreal.
Wade Morrell, Vice President and Chief Financial officer of FSM is looking forward to getting the project underway.
“We are pleased to be managing the development of this jet-fuel storage facility at Hamilton International Airport as there is a great potential for future growth at Hamilton. Providing airline partners with a modern and adequate jet-fuel storage facility is a key factor in enabling an airport’s growth” said Morrell.
Construction of the multi-million dollar facility commences June 1, 2009, and the estimated date of completion is December 15, 2009.
